Last week, an amazing group of educators came together at the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s July Convening to help clear up some confusion that has resulted from some of the recent announcements related to PARCC and the renaming of the standards to Oklahoma Academic Standards. With added information coming from various news sources, our group thought it would be nice if we addressed some of these things straight on.

Twenty two educators created a list of what they felt were the most important misunderstandings they hear from their fellow teachers. With teachers from large urban/suburban schools mixed with those from the smallest of rural schools, and others from districts every size in between, the effort to clear up the “myths” was filled with rich conversation.

We hope the following document helps you begin this new school year with a bit of clarity. We know there are many more things that need to be cleared up and we would love for you to rate how you feel about this OKMath Mythbuster in the Review section after the download link. With your rating and feedback, our team can improve the document and might even be able to answer some of the questions you have that aren’t addressed in the document.
